The Silex DS-510 has been designed to connect and share USB devices over a network with as little trouble as possible. Many devices are supported, such as Printers, Scanners, Disk Drives, Card Readers. The Silex DS-510 make is possible for all these devices to be given network capabilities with fexibility to place the USB device anywhere on the network instead of needing to be attached directly to the computer. This also means that multiple users can access the USB device without having to physically relocate the device.

Energy Saver Mode
If the Device Server application that talks to the Silex DS-510 is not used for a period of time, the power supply running to the USB bus will turn off to save energy, but will automatically power up when the server is used again.
The Printer AutoConnect feature is both Windows and Mac compatible. It allows multiple computer connections so that it is easy to share a USB printer over the network by making automatic connections to the printer. After the printing is complete, it will automatically disconnect so the Silex DS-510 and connected printer is available to the next user.
Isochronous Transfer Mode
The Silex DS-510 has support for USB devices such as Webcams or USB sound cards, which require ongoing data transmission in real time, so they can also be used in the network environment.
